Reimagining how learning feels with AI

Matter and Space is building an early-stage AI learning tool exploring a more intuitive, personalized path through knowledge. I partnered with THE WORK to define the product’s visual and conceptual direction—creating a modular interface that adapts to learners, not the other way around. My focus was on rapid concept development, visual exploration, and UX design for core learning and wellness flows.

Learner Journey

Learner Journey

We reimagined the typical course format as a fluid, nonlinear system—more like a living map than a checklist. Each learner’s journey adapts to their pace, preferences, and curiosity, encouraging reflection, detours, and revisiting concepts. The interface used visual metaphors and modular elements to help users build connections between ideas organically, without the pressure of forced progression.

Learner Wellbeing

Learning isn’t isolated from how we feel. We built in gentle cues that reflected a user’s energy, focus, and emotional state—supporting them through high-energy moments and offering permission to rest when needed. These ambient signals were never punitive; instead, they created a sense of psychological safety and helped learners understand how their mood affected their momentum.
